what is the % of people who take ranitidine (zantac) 150 mg tablets, who have an allergic reaction to it? Cath I know allergic reactions are rare with zantac but glaxo smith kline the makers of zantac wouldn't tell me. They said my Dr. could call and find out but i know my Dr. is too busy to call them and he just tells me it is rare and I should take the med.

sameer p replied: "Ranitidine is perhaps the safest antacid.I myself have prescribed and keep on prescribing it to n no of patients.None have reported with any side-effects yet. But be careful if u r planning to conceive or prgnant. otherwise feel absolutely relaxed about it's safety."

angels danced here replied: "I am taking Zantac ATM I don't have an allergic reaction to it but do sometimes feel wired after taking them"

Ranitidine 150 mg Tablets which is the generic of ZANTAC 150 Tablets causes a false positive on a drug test? My boyfriend had to go take a drug test for his p/o today & ended up testing positive for Methamphetamine. Now I know for a fact that he hasn't done any because I am with him practically 24/7.. I am really worried about this because now his p/o thinks he is doing drugs (which he is not), and I was just wondering if the equate generic form of Zantac will cause a false positive. The only active ingredient is Ranitidine 150mg(as ranitidine hydrochloride, USP 168mg) and the inactive ingredients are: FD&C red, hypromellose, iron oxide black, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, titanium dioxide. I am not sure if any of that makes a difference in the answer but i really need to know cause if this is what is causing the false positive he needs to stop taking it. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! I AM WORRIED TO DEATH ABOUT THIS!! :( he has taken this for heartburn & goody's powder, and aleve. other than that he takes nothing. his p/o called him a liar when he said he hasn't done meth in 3 or 4 years, which i know he wasn't lying because he was clean when we got together(i made him take an otc drug test) and thats how long we have been together, and we have been with each other 24/7 (except when he was at work which i know he never would do anything like that at work) She is convinced but i know otherwise.

daddyrx replied: "Ranitidine will not test false positive for amphetamines. Has your boyfriend taken any cold medications in the past 3 days? Products for a cold which contain ephedrine or pseudoephedrine may test positive for amphetamines. Find out what else he is taking."

AbeLincolnParty replied: "If it was a cheap chemical test that shows a color change then that cannot be relied upon as proof postive. The gold standard, the kind applied to government police and fire personell is some form of chromatography (separates a complex mixture of molecules) followed by Mass Spectra (weights the molecule and its breakdown products) and IR spectra (the molecular fingerprint of infrared frequency absorption unique to a molecule). Anything less than this is just guessing."

Is it bad if I took a Zantac 150 after taking Prevacid 30mg in the morning? I usually just take one 30mg tablet every morning, but i stopped for a while bc my prescription ran out and took other acid reducers meanwhile. Today I started it again, but it takes more than a day to fully work so about 10-12 hours later i took a Zantac 150 because my heartburn was bad. Should I be okay?

help im very worried...Medical professional/doctors only? today i got diagnosed with acid reflex but not sure if that is what i actually have two other doctors told me two way different diseases and my doctor today gave me Zantac 150 mg Tablets and i felt wierd and not right and it was my first pill and im scared to take another but he said to take one then and one before bed but if its gonna do that again i dont wanna what should i do im very scared to vomit and i felt naseated cause of that pill im also axiety and depressed and dont know what to do HELP

..... replied: "i think your problem is anxiety and panic not exactly the pill. i have panic disorder but dont let the thought sink into your mind man. and plsu ive been diagnosed with acid reflex a few years ago and did take the pill and helped very much. good luck man!"

jojo replied: "I would do as your doctor instructed and take the other pill. What other medications are you taking? They could be causing the anxiety/depression, if not talk to a doctor about that. Zantac is a relatively safe drug and should not interact with anything."

Future Citizen of Forvik replied: "Zantac 150 shouldn't do that to you. Give them time to work. Acid Reflux is horrible. I take Nexium and it is the best pill ever. by the way I am not a doctor but I have acid reflux."

OhWhyDontIknowMath replied: "Given that you did not use a period in that question :) it would seem that you really do have an anxiety attack. Many of the symptoms like nausea can easily be caused by anxiety. Acid reflex, though unpleasant, is fairly common. I think misdiagnosis is somewhat uncommon in this case. Nevertheless, if in doubt, do seek a different (professional) opinion. As a side note, drugs are not necessarily the only, or the best way to improve the situation. Consider altering the type of food you eat."

momo replied: "My best guess is that you are just nervous about your medication. I have problems with pills too because I can't swallow them so I get that too. If you think you are going to vomit DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT think about it. Think about happy times if you can. It should all go away soon. And acid reflux isn't that big of a deal. It won't kill you or cause harm. It just damages your esaphagus a little. But your medication is made to fix it. Good Luck! ;)"

k.a.h. replied: "Go to your doctor with your concerns and not a panel of internet medical professionals. I could be the president of the US on the internet."

J B replied: "You have to give the medication a chance to work. Often new medications can give mild side effects but you keep taking the medication as the doctor instructed and the symptoms gradually go away. Take the meds, give it a week or more and then, if you have continued symptoms, talk with your doctor about it. You can also go to WebMd and read up on things that will help acid reflux (type in this term)."

mssmurfy replied: "Don't be afraid or worried...that only makes things seem worse than they are, as well as needless fret = wasted energies! I suggest you go to and type in acid reflux and read what it means. It is a very user friendly site with easy to understand details & specifics as well as numerous avenues toward helping anyone with any medical concerns. Acid reflux can be controlled & treated with ease...taking Zantac etc only helps reduce some of your stomach acidity & helps prevent the acidic burning sensation from irritating your inner linings including your esophagus etc...I have GERD [you can look up on webmd] & have taken various meds as well as zantac, aciphex, Rantidine[generic], etc I now take OTC[over the counter] Prilosec & have for years. Also if you learn to eat nonirritating foods this will help...avoid the spicy stuff, the acidic, even coffee's...you will be just fine if you combine medical advice with nutritional advice & improve eating & living habits a bit. Take care~"
